Abstract
With this special issue, Ex Chordis inaugurates a new section of its editorial project, dedicated to the publication of scores in modern edition. This initiative stands in full continuity with the journal’s scientific mission, conceived as an interdisciplinary open-access platform for the study of bowed string instruments, their historical sources, and performance practice. The repertoire of late eighteenth-century Italian musical theatre, in which the orchestral writing for bowed strings performs a dramaturgical and coloristic function of primary importance, falls squarely within the journal’s scholarly remit.
