“L’ALTRA VERITÀ” DI ALDA MERINI: UN DIARIO DI MEDICINA NARRATIVA ANTE LITTERAM

Abstract

In questo studio si esplorano le declinazioni di «quella croce senza giustizia che è stato il manicomio» per Alda Merini, attraverso l’analisi delle scelte stilistiche che la poetessa ha adottato in L’altra verità. Diario di una diversa. Il Diario, proprio perché testimonianza postuma di una condizione che nega, quando non violenta, la dignità umana, può considerarsi un esempio di medicina narrativa ante litteram e si rivela, perciò, uno strumento prezioso di riflessione non solo per il paziente, ma anche per i medici ed i familiari. In questo saggio, con un approccio quali-quantitativo, si studiano la frequenza, le co-occorrenze di verbi e di sostantivi, nonché la scelta potente di una meditata morfologia derivazionale, attraverso le quali Alda Merini esprime le differenti variazioni del disagio e della speranza.

The other truth of Alda Merini: an ante litteram narrative - based medicine diary  

In this study, the variations of “that cross without justice that was the madhouse” are outlined through the stylistic choices adopted by Alda Merini in L’altra verità. Diario di una diversa. The Diario, precisely because it is posthumous proof of a condition that denies, when not violent, human dignity, can be considered an example of ante litteram narrative medicine and is a precious instrument for reflection not only for the patient, but also for doctors and family members. In this essay, we investigate the frequency and co-occurrences of verbs and nouns, as well as the powerful choice of meditated derivational morphology – which Alda Merini used to express the different variations of discomfort and hope – using a quali-quantitative approach.
