Author Guidelines

Almanac of Laparoscopic Surgery is an open access scientific video-journal which publishes original peer-reviewed videos on laparoscopical surgeries.

Each video will be introduced by a short abstract in correct English and in third person, that explaines the surgical technique and its scope in not more than 1000 characters with spaces.

In this introduction authors should summarize the procedure shown in the video, explain valid reason for the procedure and, on the contrary, the situations where the procedure would not be appropriate or safe. They can make references to instruments used and to possibly complications both intra and post op. It's also raccomended the use of keywords, which will be indexed.

Authors could use references and citations, following the American Medical Associated (AMA) Manual of stile. It's possible to insert links to articles cited. According to that standard authors can build a brief bibliography.

The preferred formats for the texts are .doc and .odf (open office format).

The abstract file must contain a permalink to the site in which the video is loaded. The site has to be an open access one.

Videos must respect some standars and authors should verify the presence of these requirements in their videos before the submission.

Originality: videos proposed should be new and original.

Scientific quality: videos have to show high quality scientific procedure.

Video quality: authors are requested to insert video at as a high resolution as possible (not lower than 720p.) with high quality editing respecting the real execution of the surgery.

Besides, videos should last less than 10 minutes with a clear English narration and explanation of the procedure.

Both the videos and the abstracts must be preceded by a unique title that enlights the surgical procedure. Authors are pleased to avoid long title and complex punctuation (such as semicolon, brackets, dash...).
