Eagle Eye 911 Review

by Ellen Thomas (2019-06-01)

A number of factors can cause dry eye problems Eagle Eye 911 to arise after LASIK. The surgical procedure cannot avoid cutting some corneal nerves, causing loss of sensation in the cornea (this is called LASIK-induced neurotrophic epitheliopathy, or simply LINE). The loss of sensitivity deadens the triggers for the lachrymal glands and deactivates their capability to secrete tears, so aqueous tear production goes down. The same thing happens to the signals that induce the meibomian glands to secrete more lipids. The normal blink can also be interrupted, along with the ability of the goblet cells to produce mucin for maintaining the mucous layer. The overall effect is an inferior quality tear film and a cornea with a flatter curvature and impaired ability to retain the tear film as effectively as before. The management of dry eye actually begins before the procedure is performed. During pre-operative check-up, the surgeon should find out if you are already showing signs or symptoms of dry eye disease, including blepharitis, contact lens intolerance, etc. Any eye health conditions existing before surgery can make the effects of LINE after surgery more severe. Ideally, these symptoms should be completely eliminated before surgery is carried out.The doctor may also decide that the eye needs to be lubricated with artificial tears. However, the fundamental treatment is topical a cyclosporine-castor oil mixture. This is usually spread well before and several months following LASIK surgery. Intake of omega-3 fatty acid supplements may also be recommended, especially where response to topical cyclosporine is slow or the the medication is not available.
