Sicurezza, qualità e continuità delle cure in ambito chirurgico: analisi sul processo di handover infermieristico

Abstract

BACKGROUND:
Il processo di handover è fondamentale per garantire la qualità e la sicurezza delle cure sanitarie, soprattutto in contesti chirurgici, dove il trasferimento di pazienti tra diversi team aumenta la complessità assistenziale. La comunicazione inefficace durante l'handover è una delle principali cause di eventi avversi.

OBIETTIVO:
Esplorare la percezione degli infermieri riguardo al processo di handover nei contesti chirurgici della Regione Marche e identificare informazioni chiave necessarie per un passaggio efficace e sicuro dei pazienti tra i reparti chirurgici e le sale operatorie. 

METODI:
Indagine esplorativa utilizzando un questionario. Lo strumento, distribuito in web, è stato somministrato agli infermieri che lavorano nei reparti chirurgici e nelle sale operatorie.

RISULTATI:
I risultati hanno rivelato un forte consenso tra gli infermieri sull'importanza di un processo di handover efficace, con il 99% che lo riconosce come cruciale per la gestione dei pazienti. Tuttavia, solo il 55% ha valutato positivamente il processo attuale, mentre il 34% lo ha giudicato inadeguato. Una significativa maggioranza (95%) ha sostenuto l'implementazione di uno strumento standardizzato per il trasferimento delle informazioni. Lo studio ha inoltre identificato informazioni specifiche ritenute essenziali dagli infermieri sia per le fasi pre-operatorie che post-operatorie. 

CONCLUSIONI:
Lo studio evidenzia il ruolo critico di un handover ben strutturato nel garantire la continuità dell'assistenza e la sicurezza dei pazienti nei contesti chirurgici. Sottolinea la necessità di migliorare gli strumenti esistenti integrando informazioni essenziali e propone l'adozione di un sistema digitale per migliorare l'accuratezza, la tempestività e la tracciabilità dei dati clinici durante gli handover.
