About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Italian Journal of Public Health (IJPH), published from 2003 to 2012, is the former version of Epidemiology Biostatistics and Public Health (EBPH), on Riviste Unimi Platform since 2020.

IJPH's old issues have been retrieved on the same platform thanks to the new publisher, Milano University Press.
IJPH was a globally circulated international peer-reviewed journal listed in the National Library of Medicine (NLM ID: 101252625 IJPH). Founded in 2003, the IJPH was a quarterly publication for original research and theoretical or methodological papers within the area of public health. Editorials, full-length papers, short papers, reviews, letters, commentaries, and book review are reported in English language, with issues being published in March, June, September and December. The IJPH style and editorial policies conform to the “Uniform requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals”. The policies are adopted from the statements of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors.

The scientific topics that the IJPH covers are public health, epidemiology, health services research, food and nutrition, environmental hygiene, hospital hygiene, health services management, health economics, health policy, social sciences, mental health, public health genomics, biostatics, and medical education. IJPH was printed up to 2010 and distributed to around 2000 researchers of Public Health in and out of Europe.
Since January 2011 it had only the online version, and a renewed and enriched website with an "online first" section, internal and external links.
The Journal's editorial board members have been chosen from worldwide well-known public health experts.

Mission
The mission of the IJPH was to disseminate scientific knowledge relating all the aspects of public health including epidemiology, health services research, food and nutrition, environmental hygiene, hospital hygiene, health services management, health economics, health policy, social sciences, mental health, public health genomics, biostatics, and medical education. The IJPH aims to encourage research and promote knowledge relating to the issues, needs and development of public health, and to promote and provide a forum for the regular exchange of views and information to promote the development and education of public health workers.

Target
The Italian Journal of Public Health was directed towards all the professionals involved in public health (public health doctors, physicians, biologists, epidemiologists, biostatisticians, nurses, and other specialists and scientists in the field of public health). It was of interest to anyone involved in public health programmes, the care of populations or communities and those who contribute to public health systems in any way.

Peer Review Process

Every manuscript is reviewed by at least two external reviewers, who are asked to comment on full length original contributions and short reports.

Reviews are double blind, that is, the identity of the author(s) is not known to the referees and vice versa.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.
