Abstract

Interpreting notated music in terms of creative freedom: the notes are not changed, but dynamics, agogics, and timbre are modified. Starting from this analytical process, can the performer be considered an author?

Maurizio Baglini

Versatile pianist with an intense international concert career which, starting from a victory at the age of twenty-four at the Monte-Carlo Piano Masters, has led to performances at prestigious venues such as the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Teatro alla Scala, the Salle Gaveau in Paris and the Kioi Hall in Tokyo. Extensive discography for Decca/Universal includes music by Liszt, Brahms, Schubert, Scarlatti, Mussorgsky, Schumann and the Live at Amiata Piano Festival series.
