Abstract

The revised and reworked papers presented at the study seminar Historiographical Horizons. Books on the Contemporary Age are published below. The seminar was organized by the Department of Historical Studies “Federico Chabod” of the University of Milan and took place at the Statale on 5 February 2025. Following the 2023 and 2024 editions, which were devoted respectively to fascism and antifascism, the focus was turned to the long nineteenth century. Given the impossibility of providing an account of the substantial recent publishing output, a selection was made of several collective volumes which—also by virtue of the presence within them of authors of important monographs—may be seen as representative of some underlying trends in current research and historiographical debate.
