Call for Papers – Vol. 1 No. 2 (2026) | Leonardo da Vinci in the Global Imaginary: Entanglements with China
Artology: Studies in the Arts is pleased to announce a Call for Papers for its second issue (Vol. 1, No. 2, 2026). This monographic edition, guest-edited by Prof. Edoardo Villata, is dedicated to the theme "Leonardo da Vinci in the Global Imaginary: Entanglements with China."
Continuing the dialogue sparked by the 2023 Shanghai Museum exhibition "Chi è Leonardo da Vinci?" (Who Is Leonardo?), this issue explores the connections between Leonardo—as both a historical figure and a modern myth—and China. We welcome scholarly essays, critical responses, and visual contributions.
The issue also invites contributions for an open section (Research Articles, Visual Essays, or Shorter Interventions) for high-quality scholarship on any topic within the journal’s scope.
- Deadline: July 31, 2026
- Publication: December 2026
- Format: Chicago 18 (notes and bibliography), double-blind peer review, English language
- Diamond Open Access: No fees for authors or readers
