On the birth of Ludovico Maria Sforza: the contribution of the Lombardy Historical Society

Abstract

After a centuries-old tradition that claimed Ludovico Maria Sforza was born in Vigevano in 1451, it was only in 1918 that some documents discovered by Emilio Motta, to which Piero Parodi was able to add several others, led to the establishment that Moro was born in Milan in 1452. Knowledge of the new sources was also pro­moted by the Lombardy Historical Society.
