Introduzione all'ornitologia. V: Il territorio

Abstract

Going on in the series << An Introduction to Ornithology >> the author tells about one of the most important features of bird life:
the territory. Far the first time the problem is dealt with in Italian ornithological literature. Most of the examples and the most important conclusion are derived from the recent foreign literature so rich in works on the argument. 
Origina] observations come from author's field notes thus being of relative value supporting recent views on territory functions . From studies accomplished in ltaly on Nycticorax nycticorax, Streptopelia turtur and S. decaocto seems evident the function of territory as a dispersa! mechanism.
