Abstract
Experiments were carried out in Emilia-Romagna in the years 1981 and 1982 in order to evaluate contemporaneous use of endophagous parasites (Encarsia formosa Gahan and Encarsia pergandiella Howard) and of chromotropic traps against Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Westw.) on greenhouse tomatoes.
The results obtained in the first year of research allowed us to establish the efficacy of the attraction exercised on the whitefly by the panels, and the lack of such attraction on the Encarsia species.
Under the condition described, combined use of one chromotropic panel (33 x 60 cm) every 21 m2 and parasites proved insufficient to control the infestant, although parasitising reached significant levels.
In the second year, good results were obtained using chromotropic panels alone, placing one panel (33 x 30 cm) every 7 m2.
