Abstract

The collection of Hymenoptera Bombinae of the genus Bombus Latr. in the 'Museo Civico di Storia Naturale' of Milan is here presented. It is a notable collection, made up of some 1200 specimens from about 100 paleartic species and subspecies taken for the most part in Italy and Central Europe. There are also some specimens from South-East Asia and the Continent of America. For each species relative data are given of the number of the specimens, the authors who collected them and where they were found. Comments on chromatic characteristics and systematic status are made where they are deemed useful.
