La complessità della relazione tra musica ed emozioni.
L’interazione tra espressività del codice ed esperienza dell’ascoltatore oltre le dicotomie dell’estetica analitica.

L’obiettivo di questo articolo è dimostrare che il dibattito filosofico sul rapporto tra musica ed emozioni sviluppatosi all’interno dell’estetica analitica è ancora molto cruciale per dare conto della teoria dell’espressività musicale. Quel dibattito opponeva cognitivisti ed emotivisti. I primi ponevano l’espressività all’esterno nel codice musicale e prevedevano solo un riconoscimento freddo e cognitivo da parte dell’ascoltatore. I secondi pongono l’espressività nell’esperienza emotiva interna dell’ascoltatore. Secondo noi, quel dibattito ha esaurito ormai la sua parabola propulsiva perché è stato condizionato da una eccessiva polarizzazione mentre di fatto esso mostrava la necessità di un’interazione tra aspetti freddi e caldi, esternalisti e internalisti, dell’espressività musicale che possono essere affrontati adeguatamente soltanto attraverso una teoria ibrida che rivaluti sia le potenzialità attivatrici esterne del codice musicale, sia l’esperienza emotiva interna dell’ascoltatore.
