The Case of Ingeborg Bachmann

The concept of truth, and the ways in which it is portrayed, represents one of the most debated areas of study in both literature and journalism. In these two fields, the notion of truth assumes different forms and meanings. Literature operates on a complex and often symbolic plane, where truth may be subjective, metaphorical, or emotional, reflecting inner realities rather than concrete facts. Journalism, on the other hand, traditionally associates truth with faithfulness to facts, objectivity, and the verification of sources; its aim is to inform the public with accuracy and transparency. In this paper, I intend to examine the articles written by Ingeborg Bachmann on the Montesi case, focusing on the stylistic, structural, and truth-telling conventions typical of journalistic texts such as reportage.
