About the Journal
Focus and Scope
«Enthymema»'s aim is to provide an arena for discussion and inquiry on the foundations of literary communication. The journal’s fields of interest are literary theory, literary criticism and philosophy of literature; by these definitions we intend the reasoning on grounds, issues, critical tools and methods in literary studies. «Enthymema» presents unpublished works as well as translations of major international essays in these disciplines. We welcome theoretical, critical and methodological papers, reviews, announcements of conferences and other events related to literary research.
Peer Review Process
Every proposal submitted for publication is read at least by an editor, for an initial review. If the paper agrees with editorial policies and with a minimum quality level, is sent to two reviewers for evaluation. «Enthymema» uses a double blind peer review. Our selection criteria are scientific relevance, solidity of argumentation and appropriateness to the journal’s aims and areas of interest. **Attention: Enthymema is a journal entitrely managed by volunteers and, given the great number of submissions received, the review process can take up to 6-8 months.**
Publication Frequency
Two numbers are published per year. Registered readers will be notified of any additional issues.
**Attention: New Enthymema programming
Starting in 2026, Enthymema will only publish monographic issues resulting from calls for papers organised by the Editorial Board and Scientific Committee of Enthymema or by external parties, or selected from proposals received.
Proposals for monographic issues must be submitted for selection via the website one year in advance of the planned publication date (December or June), indicating the title, table of contents, and abstracts of each article, for a maximum of 10 articles in addition to the introduction.
A maximum of three articles not related to the monographic theme may be considered for each issue.
Translations, reviews, interviews, and conference reports will continue to be accepted as usual, even in monographic issues.
Proposals received before 1st December 2025 will be evaluated for the last miscellaneous issue of June/July 2026.

To promote the dissemination of knowledge and the scientific debate, «Enthymema» offers open and immediate access to its contents. Publication in «Enthymema» is free of charge for authors and their institutions.
