Abstract

On 26 September 1881, at one o’clock in the afternoon, the opening session of the second edition of the «International Geological Congress». Moving on from this occasion, which was both local and international, the essay aims to investigate the relationship between the study of the environment and natural resources in its modern narrative, born of the years of scientific congresses and universal exhibitions. Reflection of the intertwined relationship between the development of modern sciences, economy and politics in 19th-century Europe.
