Una verifica inaccettabile: Riflessioni bioetiche sul Virginity Test

Abstract

Il Virginity Test è un esame ginecologico finalizzato a determinare se un soggetto abbia avuto rapporti sessuali o subito violenza fisica. L’esame, basato sull’aspetto dell’imene, viene ancora oggi eseguito in diverse aree del mondo e rappresenta una forma di oppressione e discriminazione basata sul genere spesso praticata senza consenso. La pratica, non supportata da alcuna evidenza scientifica, è una violazione dei diritti umani ed è associata ad una serie di conseguenze negative di molteplice natura. Per queste ragioni, il test di verginità rappresenta una questione dirimente che necessita una risposta unitaria da parte della società in vista di una sua eliminazione.
