Author Biography

Nicoletta Vallorani, Università degli Studi di Milano

NICOLETTA VALLORANI is Professor of English Literature and Cultural Studies at the University of Milan. Her specialisations include media studies, gender studies and queer studies. She has also worked the cultural and ideological implications of translation, and on the relation between language and ideology in contemporary cultures.
Her current research focuses on body politics and cultural ideology, the body and the city, body language, cultural representation and disease. Her work on J.Conrad, H.G.Wells, Angela Carter, Will Self and Martin Amis is more grounded in the field of literary studies, while more recent approaches to I.Sinclair, D.Jarman, O.Welles, T.Harrison, M.Winterbottom reveal a more specific reference to cultural studies’ theories and methods.
She has recently published on formula fiction, cinema and literature, urban topographies, the representation of the body, the representation of war in contemporary British and American cultures.

NICOLETTA VALLORANI è Professore Associato di Letteratura Inglese e Studi Culturali presso l’Università degli Studi di Milano. Le sue specializzazioni si orientano verso il campo dei media studies, dei gender studies e dei queer studies. Ha lavorato anche sulle implicazioni culturali e ideologiche della traduzione e sulla relazione tra linguaggio e ideologia nelle culture contemporanee.
Attualmente le sue ricerche si concentrano sulle politiche del corpo e l’ideologia, il corpo e la città, il linguaggio del corpo, la rappresentazione culturale e la malattia. Il suo lavoro su J.Conrad, H.G.Wells, Angela Carter, Will Self e Martin Amis ha radici profonde nel campo degli studi letterari, mentre approcci più recenti a I.Sinclair, D.Jarman, O.Welles, T.Harrison, M.Winterbottom rivelano un riferimento più specifico alle teorie e ai metodi degli studi culturali.
Ha pubblicato saggi sulla narrativa formulaica, il rapporto tra cinema e letteratura, le topografie urbane, la rappresentazione del corpo, la rappresentazione della guerra nelle culture contemporanee britanniche e americane.
