Abstract

Idea of a sovereign film is the last important contribution Jean-François Lyotard offers to cinema. It’s a conference held on November 1995 at the French institute in Munich. The subject of the meetings is The future of cinema. In his intervention Lyotard reviews his previous positions, especially those of his essay Acinema (1973). He opens up to the analysis of narrative and representative movies and identifies there the unpredictable presence of a sovereign filmic fact.
