Abstract

The Egyptian cults were introduced in the Western Pontic region in the early Hellenistic period, but the epigraphic evidence for their spectacular diffusion is mainly from later periods. Our contribution to this dossier consists of improved editions of three Greek inscriptions from Tomis: a Severan inscription set up by an association of pastophoroi, an epitaph erected by a man bearing a theophoric name, and an honorific decree for an unnamed priest, dated to the mid-first century AD, which was previously mistaken for a dedication. We also publish a new fragmentary dedication to the Egyptian gods, of unknown provenance, but likely from Tomis.
