A significant number of magical-religious texts are inscribed on precious metals, reflecting the belief that the value of the material medium enhances the efficacy of the text and that the more valuable the support, the better the outcome. A partially published lamina housed at Duke University offers a pertinent case study. This paper explores how the physical properties of this artifact, together with the content, contribute to the attribution of the text to a specific textual category.
