Abstract

This article is based on documental and oral sources, collected during field stays, and exposes the milestones in the history of Los otros desaparecidos de Iguala, a group of relatives of victims and seekers of missing persons in the Southern Mexican state of Guerrero. After a brief frame on social movements and the problems of the disappearance of people and the clandestine graves, emphasis is placed especially on the formative phases of the Los otros desaparecidos de Iguala group (between October 2014 and February 2015) and on some of its most recent developments. The analysis delves into the regional and national contexts, characterized by the strategy of militarization of public security, the case of the forced disappearance of the 43 Ayotzinapa students in the city of Iguala and the renewed activism of victims' of violence movements. The conclusions indicate open paths for the interpretation of the case study and for further researches.
