Abstract

The article proposes a conceptual reflection concerning the changes in education in relation to the introduction of digital technologies, starting in particular from the spread and evolution of the web up to the new perspectives of artificial intelligence, particularly generative artificial intelligences, represented in this contribution by ChatGPT. The reflection is supported by a set of qualitative empirical researches carried out with male and female students of Education Sciences at the University of Turin. This involves research on the perception of digital platforms during the pandemic period, the role of influencers in the world of Generation Z, and how this generation also learn values and role models in relation to digital media.
The emergence of digital technologies in education is also examined in its potentialities and criticalities through the analysis of some significant moments, distancing itself from an overly enthusiastic approach and the perspective of technological determinism, which attributes only to technologies the ability to change educational models and processes.
