This paper investigates effects that the widespread use of digital technologies is generating within museum institutions, from a managerial and organizational perspective. Through an extensive literature review, based on the selection of heterogeneous sources, the study identifies three macro-areas of change that digital technologies produced within museum’s environment: innovation on business models, emerging professionals and digital strategy. Main aim is to piece together fragmented information deriving both from academic studies and project reports in order to build a more unitary view about the state of the art and provide useful insights for further researches.
