Emotions in the Literary Texture
Author and Reader in Dialogue through the 'Gefühlstextualität'

Within the transdisciplinary theoretical framework of emotions, this contribution presents an innovative analytical category, the Gefühlstextualität, to identify textual elements conveying the author’s emotions, stimulating new emotional phenomena in readers during text reception. Emotions can therefore be investigated within the complexity of the hermeneutic circle as embodied phenomena that guide and determine all aspects of human bìos. The second part of the study applies the Gefühlstextualität to the analysis of a page from Goethe’s Werther, highlighting how emotions become words that retain an intense emotional value, forming a literary texture in which a poetics of emotions can be traced, which places literature and its study within the contemporary neuroscientific paradigm of 5E Cognition.
