About the Journal

  • FOCUS AND SCOPE

«inOpera» welcomes contributions that aim to propose a careful analysis of single texts or volumes, both poetic and narrative, that belong to the last century and a half of Italian history; not without exception, the research will also lead to non-fiction or private writings, as well as beyond national borders. The aim of «inOpera» is to offer a space for comparison, not only for publication, but also for dialogue, to those who still believe that the study of literature is first and foremost a study of texts and beauty.

  • FREQUENCY OF PUBLICATION

«inOpera» is a six-monthly journal, with two issues published in June and December. The numbering indicates both the year (I, II, III, ...) and the number of the issue, using a continuous and non-cyclical numbering (1, 2, 3, ...).

  • EVALUATION AND PEER REVIEW PROCESS

Submissions will be peer-reviewed in their final form by two anonymous experts from outside the Editorial Board and the Staff. If necessary, a third review may be carried out at the discretion of the Executive Editors. The method used is 'double-blind' peer review, in which the author does not know the names of the reviewers, and the reviewers do not know the names of the author they are reviewing. The evaluation takes into account the following characteristics: scientific relevance of the study topic, originality and methodological rigour of the contribution, quality and coherence of the argumentation, adequacy of the bibliographical references.

  • CREATIVE COMMONS LICENCE

The journal is published under the Creative Commons CC BY-SA 4.0

Preprints and postprints can be archived anywhere under the same licence.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides open access to its content, with the aim of making research freely available to the public in order to promote the global exchange of knowledge.

Disclosure of rights and publication charges

Authors retain the copyright of the content they publish, and therefore the right to create derivative works and to reproduce, distribute, perform or publicly display their work in lectures, conferences, presentations or other scientific and professional activities, indicating the place of publication, in this case «inOpera». The user is guaranteed the possibility of reading, downloading and printing the articles that appear in the magazine, provided that he/she cites them in a clear and recognisable manner. He/she must therefore acknowledge the appropriate authorship, provide a link to the licence and indicate whether any changes have been made.

Publication costs

The journal does not charge an Article Processing Charge (APC) or Submission Charge in order to ensure maximum dissemination and usability of its content.

Digital archiving

The University of Milan has an archiving agreement with the National Central Libraries of Florence and Rome as part of the national Magazzini Digitali project.
The journal has activated the PKP PN (Preservation Network) service for the preservation of digital content by transferring it to the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) project.

  • ANTI-PLAGIARISM MEASURES

Executive Editors will act promptly in the event of error or misconduct, whether proven or suspected. In the event of errors, fraudulent publication or plagiarism in published articles, appropriate action will be taken in accordance with COPE recommendations and guidelines. Corrections will be made with appropriate prominence or, in the most serious cases, retraction of the work in question.

  • STATEMENT ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

«inOpera» recognises the importance of innovations in artificial intelligence and understands the challenges and opportunities they present.
Authors who have used AI are asked to include a paragraph at the end of the manuscript containing a 'Statement on Artificial Intelligence and AI-Assisted Technologies' with the following information
'During the preparation of this paper, the author(s) used [TOOL/SERVICE NAME] on [dd/mm/yyyy] using the search terms: [SEARCH TERMS] for [REASON]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) have reviewed and edited the content as necessary and take full responsibility for the content of the publication'.
Editors are not allowed to upload received manuscripts to artificial intelligence software, in order not to risk compromising privacy and copyright.

  • CODE OF ETHICS

The necessary rules of conduct are agreed upon by all parties involved in the practice of publication: the Author, the Executive Editors, the Editorial Board, the Staff and the Reviewers.

Publication decisions

The journal aims to ensure maximum transparency and full and honest reporting of its work to all parties involved.

The Executive Editors and the Editorial Board of «inOpera» are responsible for selecting articles for publication from among those submitted to the journal in response to a Call for Papers or by invitation, based on input from reviewers.
Decisions are made by the Executive Editors and the Editorial Board, who may also consult the Advisory Board; in any case, they are bound by the legal requirements in force regarding copyright infringement, plagiarism and defamation.

The journal «inOpera» does not guarantee a space for discussion following the decision to publish an individual contribution or the publication of a contribution following compliance with the procedures outlined here.

They are committed to ensuring scientific and editorial quality through double-blind peer review and careful editing. The journal fully preserves published articles and ensures the long-term preservation of all published content through the LOCKKS system.

All components of «inOpera» work on a voluntary basis. The website of the journal is hosted by the University of Milan, a public institution dedicated to scientific research and teaching, which does not interfere with the freedom of choice of the editors and their activities, as long as they are in line with the academic mission of the journal.

Manuscripts submitted to the journal will be evaluated solely on the basis of their intellectual content, without regard to the authors' gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnic origin, religious beliefs or political convictions.

Editorial conflicts of interest

The Executive Editors and the Editorial Board will not be involved in decisions on submissions in which they have a conflict of interest: for example, if they work or have worked at the same institution and have collaborated with the authors, or if they have or have had a personal relationship with the authors.

Confidentiality.

All information about a manuscript submitted for consideration by the journal is strictly confidential and may not be disclosed by the Editorail Board to anyone other than the Authors, Reviewers and editorial consultants.

Peer Review.

The peer review process is clearly explained on the author information page of the journal website, which also indicates which parts of the journal are peer reviewed.

The Executive Editors and the Editorial Board may reject an article without peer review if it is deemed to be of poor quality or inappropriate for the journal's readership.

Reviewers are selected by the Executive Editors and the Editorial Board to evaluate papers that are considered potentially suitable for publication.

Reviewers collaborate with «inOpera» in editorial decisions and in asking authors to improve the text through editorial communication.

Reviewers must be as impartial as possible in their assessment and must express their opinions in a clear, complete and reasoned manner. Revisions must be submitted promptly.

Reviewers must refer to relevant published work not cited by the authors. They must also report any significant similarities or correspondences between the article under review and other published material of which they are aware.

Reviewers may not evaluate manuscripts in which they have a potential conflict of interest arising from competition, collaboration, or any other relationship or association with any of the authors, companies, or institutions involved in the submission in question.

If a selected reviewer does not feel qualified to evaluate the research reported in a typescript, or if he or she knows that he or she will not be able to provide an evaluation in a timely manner, he or she should inform the Executive Editors and the Editorial Board and be excused from the review process.

Authors

All editorial processes are explained in the information for authors on the journal's website, which outlines what is expected of authors, what types of articles are published and how they are handled by the journal.

All authors of work published in the journal accept responsibility for their own conduct and the validity of their research and writing. Authors are aware that all content is distributed under a 4.0 Creative Commons Share Alike International Licence. Should a dispute over authorship arise, it will be resolved through the appropriate institutional forums or other independent bodies. The Executive Editors and the Editorial Board will then act accordingly, for example by correcting the authorship of published works. Authors retain copyright and all other rights to materials submitted to «inOpera».

Authors must guarantee that their work is completely original and, if they have used the work and/or words of others, that these have been appropriately acknowledged or cited.

Authors may not submit articles in which they report substantially the same research results to more than one journal or publication.

Authors must declare any conflicts of interest when submitting their proposals for publication in the journal.
