Abstract

The excavations of the University of Milan at Gortys, begun in 2002 and since 2003 conducted in the area South of the so‐called “Praetorium”, have clarified some still uncertain issues of urban planimetry, such as the lack of monumental evidence in a central area of the city. They have revealed a big thermal complex built at the beginning of the forth century A.D. upon the abandoned hellenistic stadium, and on the North side of an agora tetragonos. Beyond the last still buried structures, 2010 excavation campaign has uncovered a marble head of Hygieia, reused in a wall.
