Abstract

The paper gives an updating of the available information about the sculptures from the Roman Amphitheater in Verona and about the internal furniture of the monument, after the finding or a new reading of old documents; then the historical data related to the games in the Veronese Arena are re-examined.

Author Biography

Margherita Bolla, Maffeiano and Archaeological Museums of Verona

Margherita Bolla is curator of Maffeiano and Archaeological Museums in Verona from 1994; her research field is roman archaeology and she has published papers about cemeteries (Milan, Casteggio, Verona and its ancient territory), bronze vessels and figurines, archaeology of Verona (religion, theater and amphitheater). She has taken care of 16 temporary and two permanent exhibitions in the Archaeological Museum and deals with the pedagogy of the Veronese museums of art and archaeology.
