Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submitted article has not been previously published nor it is under evaluation elsewhere (or an explanation has been provided in the comments to the editor).
  • The submission file is in the following format: .docx.
  • The text has been redacted in observance of Ponti/Ponts editorial guidelines.
  • The metadata (title, abstract, keywords) are provided both in French and in English.

Author Guidelines

Editorial guidelines


1. single-spaced, justified text; Word document; texts must not exceed 40,000
characters including spaces. Article titles should not exceed two lines. Articles
must be provided with an abstract in English, keywords in French and English, and
include a final bibliography of the works effectively cited. Please enclose
a short bio-bibliographical presentation not exceeding ten (10) lines.

2. within a quotation, enclose in square brackets [ ] any words that have been added or changed and any ellipses
to indicate the omission of words or phrases;

3. notes should be placed inside brackets, outside inverted commas, before punctuation marks (except at the end of an indented quotation). Examples: (abcd1) - ‘abcd ’1 - abcd1;

4. surnames are always in SMALL CAPITALS (Michel TREMBLAY) except in quotations and in titles (this rule applies to all titles).
titles (this rule also applies to footnotes). Small capitals
are not used for the names of fictional characters (e.g. Laura Cadieux);

5. vowels written in upper case are accented, if necessary (À, É, Ê, Î)

6. use a single character for oe and æ (oe, OE, æ, Æ);

7. use the abbreviations cf. (never cfr.) and Ibid. (never Id., Ibidem; always with a capital I);

8. use « » for inverted commas; inside quotation marks: ” ’.

9. when referring to centuries, always use a small e at the top (XVIe siècle);

10. for references (in the notes and bibliography), use the following model:
Books: First name Last name, Title, City, Publisher [avoid ed., Edition, etc.] (‘Collection’, n.), (‘Collection’, n.), [year of first edition] year.
Magazine or journal article First NAME, ‘Title of Article’, Title of Magazine, n., month and year.
Newspaper :
pp. 00-00: p. of quotation ;
collective works: First NAME, ‘Title of essay or chapter’, in First NAME (ed.),
Volume title, City, Publishing house [avoid ed., Publishing house, etc.] (‘Collection’, n.).
(‘Collection’, n.), year, pp. 00-00: p. of the quotation ;
for texts already quoted, use (in the
notes):
art. cit. (never in italics) - for an article
op. cit. (in italics) - for a work, if only the author's name is given
author
cit. (never in italics) - if the author and part of the title are given
