Abstract

In questo saggio si affronta la questione delle spiegazioni lessicali nella classe di italiano L2 sulla base della letteratura esistente e in riferimento a due corpora di lezioni videoregistrate e trascritte, raccolte online e in presenza (in Italia e all’estero) tra il 2009 e il 2024. Dall’analisi dei dati emerge la presenza di alcuni pattern ricorrenti, spesso associati a forme di comunicazione non verbale e a varie strategie di trasparenza (soprattutto ripetizioni e riformulazioni, ma anche commenti, domande, esempi, code-switching e scomposizione del topic). Oltre a confermare quanto rilevato in altre ricerche sullo stesso argomento realizzate in contesti e per lingue diverse, lo studio fornisce informazioni utili per la formazione dei docenti, mettendo a fuoco l’importanza di questo aspetto cruciale nell’interazione nella classe di L2.



In the classroom of Italian as a second language: lexical explanations

This essay addresses the issue of lexical explanations in the Italian L2 classroom based on existing literature and with reference to two corpora of video-recorded and transcribed lessons, collected both online and in person (in Italy and abroad) between 2009 and 2024. Data analysis reveals the presence of recurring patterns, often associated with forms of non-verbal communication and various transparency strategies (notably repetitions and reformulations, but also comments, questions, examples, code-switching, and topic decomposition). In addition to confirming findings from other research on the same subject conducted in different contexts and for different languages, the study provides useful information for teacher training, highlighting the importance of this crucial aspect of interaction in the L2 classroom.
