Abstract
Finalizzato a proteggere la salute pubblica, il divieto dell’uso non terapeutico di numerose sostanze psicoattive è norma universalmente applicata nella cornice di un sistema internazionale di controllo. Tuttavia, le strategie di riduzione dell’offerta non sono riuscite a ridurre il consumo di un numero sempre più vasto di sostanze; inoltre, l’inabissamento del mercato nell’illegalità ha generato un inaccettabile incremento della violenza. Liberalizzazione, legalizzazione e decriminalizzazione sono le strategie proposte per governare un fenomeno che appare impossibile eradicare. Dopo avere esaminato tali strategie, l’articolo mostra quali siano le resistenze a tali propositi riformatori e quali siano per contro i progressi su tale via, soffermandosi infine sulla necessità di riconsiderare lo stato legale dei farmaci psicotropi secondo criteri scientifici più solidi che non un generico senso di cautela.Downloads
