Abstract
EU citizens show a clear preference for buying local food, either directly from the producer, at local markets or even in supermarkets. This trend is closely linked to the perception of food quality, understood in a broad sense that includes aspects of safety, sustainability and freshness. However, the regulation of food proximity poses significant legal challenges due to the coexistence of different legal definitions and the need to distinguish this concept from other similar legal figures. In this context, the aim of this article is to analyse the legal instruments available to clearly inform consumers about food proximity. Based on the analysis of Regulation (EU) 1169/2011 on the provision of food information to consumers, as well as trademark law, various legal tools are identified that allow the consumer to be informed about food proximity.Downloads
