Author Biography

Matteo Marinello, Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna

Matteo Marinello is postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of the Arts of Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna, within the project “Produzione, distribuzione e circolazione della narrazioni populiste nella fiction televisiva italiana” (PI: Paola Brembilla). He obtained his Ph.D. in the same department working on the relationship between comedy and politics in the history of Italian television between 1969 and 1982. His research concerns the cultural, media and political history of Republican Italy and the United States, with a focus on television entertainment. He is involved in various research projects on television studies and teaches television history and theory at the universities of Bari and Padua. He is also the author of the book Backstage all’italiana. Television, comicità e immaginario nazionale in Boris, la serie (2022).
