Per una laborialità artistica dei media locativi: il caso Karosta

Abstract

A partire dagli anni Novanta del secolo scorso, l’era dei media mobili e dei dispositivi portatili di geolocalizzazione ha introdotto un nuovo approccio alla digitalizzazione dello spazio e alla sua rappresentazione in tempo reale, permettendo di includere la fisicità performativa dell’artista come elemento di un sistema complesso e situato. L’articolo propone un’indagine del Locative Media Workshop tenuto a Karosta, una piccola località lettone sul mar Baltico, nell’estate del 2003. La tendenza creativa dei locative media, attraverso questo primo workshop, pone le sue basi su pratiche collaborative nello spazio pubblico. Nel testo, oltre a ricostruire la messa in opera dell’evento negli ambienti del RIXC Center for New Media Culture di Riga, si pone l’attenzione su come un tale agire laboratoriale, esplorativo e partecipato, segnerà un’evoluzione sostanziale rispetto a precedenti forme di media art che hanno fatto uso delle reti.
