Abstract

This paper deals with the open-ended intergovernmental Ad hoc Committee, which was established by the General Assembly of the UN in 1998 for the purpose of elaborating an international convention against transnational organized crime and three additional international legal protocols. The author purports the thesis that the Italian delegation played a major role in the work of the Ad hoc Committee and in finalizing the text of the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime between 1999 and 2000.
