Abstract

L’articolo presenta il lavoro di traduzione di American Primitive (1983), della ecopoeta statunitense Mary Oliver, concentrandosi su un testo della raccolta (Primitivo americano, Einaudi 2023) intitolato Attraversando la palude. La descrizione introduce prima le basi teoriche nel modello ermeneutico di George Steiner e poi la strategia traduttiva adottata, che si basa su una rielaborazione del modello della imitatio e utilizza come interpretanti una concezione contemporanea della poesia lirica e una visione della tradizione di poesia colloquiale che corre attraverso l’intera letteratura americana.
