Kuki Shūzō, filosofo e poeta giapponese, in L’espressione dell’infinito nell’arte giapponese (1929) offre al pubblico occidentale una lettura di quello che egli ritiene essere il destino ideale dell’arte giapponese: esprimere l’infinito, partendo dal finito. Strutturandosi come un’indagine sulle tecniche artistiche, il saggio guida il lettore in un’analisi che dalle arti figurative, agenti sull’idea geometrica di spazio, giunge sino alla poesia e alla musica, arti operanti sull’idea cronologica del tempo.
