Abstract

Il contemporaneo mondo seriale statunitense, sempre più stimato anche in ambito accademico, viene analizzato in relazione a tre categorie estetiche settecentesche di cui si avverte una forte insorgenza tematica e le cui teorie sono adattabili alla serialità contemporanea: il melo­drammatico, il sublime e il disgustoso. Lo scopo dichiarato è comprendere se lo spettatore è davvero così masochista come potrebbe apparire da un’affrettata analisi.
