STUDIARE IL FRANCESE A MILANO NEGLI ANNI CINQUANTA: UN’ANALISI DELLE BIBLIOGRAFIE UNIVERSITARIE

Abstract

Questo contributo riunisce la bibliografia per la preparazione della parte di lingua dell’esame di Lingua e Letteratura francese all’Università degli Studi di Milano e all’Università “Luigi Bocconi” dal secondo Dopoguerra agli inizi degli anni Sessanta, cioè prima dell’avvento tecnologico introdotto dai registratori e seguito dai primissimi computer. Le fonti sono documenti quali gli Annuari, i Programmi d’esame, i Libretti di Lettorato, i Vademecum dello studente, l’elenco dei libri pubblicati da case editrici universitarie come La Goliardica e Viscontea, un volume di Carlo Cordié a contenuto bibliografico, intitolato Avviamento allo studio della lingua e della letteratura francese (Marzorati, Milano, 1955), le bibliografie dei docenti che insegnavano nelle due università prese in considerazione, il fondo librario dedicato ai libri di testo della Biblioteca del Dipartimento di Lingue e Letterature Straniere della “Statale” e infine i quaderni e le testimonianze di ex-studenti. Il patrimonio linguistico e metodologico che ne risulta non è privo di sorprese se lo si paragona all’idea spesso riduttiva che accompagna l’esperienza del passato insieme alla sua lezione e se intendiamo ritrovare i contorni di un sapere condiviso di generazione in generazione per misurare i passi compiuti.

 

Studying french in Milan in the Fifties: an analysis of university bibliographies 

This paper features the bibliography for the preparation of the language part of the French Language and Literature exam at the University of Milan and at the “Luigi Bocconi” University from the Second World War to the early 1960s, i.e. before the advent of technology introduced by tape recorders and the very first computers. The sources are documents such as yearbooks, exam syllabuses, literature books, the student vademecum, the list of books published by university publishing houses such as La Goliardica and Viscontea, a volume by Carlo Cordié with bibliographic content entitled Introduzione al studio della lingua e della letteratura francese (Marzorati, Milan, 1955), bibliographies by teachers who taught in the two universities object of the study, the book fund dedicated to textbooks at the Library of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Milan and finally the notebooks and the testimonies of former students. The resulting linguistic and methodological patrimony is not without surprises compared to the often reductive ideas regarding the experience of the past and we can find the outlines of knowledge shared from generation to generation which allows us to measure the steps taken.
