I POETI NON SCELGONO MAI L’ESILIO

Abstract

I poeti sono sempre in esilio: il poeta è in esilio anche nel suo Paese. E, forse, andare in esilio, per un poeta, non è cosa troppo dura: come accade a Ovidio che, in esilio, non fu meno solo e straniero che a Roma. Il poeta è diverso; il poeta vede quello che agli altri sfugge; il poeta vola quando gli altri camminano. Essere poeta vuol dire riuscire a raccontare la miseria e il dolore di tutti i giorni; ma riuscire a cantare l’amore: quello che salva e che rende immortali.

POETS NEVER CHOOSE EXILE

Poets are always in exile, even in their own country. And, perhaps, going into exile for a poet is not too hard: as happened to Ovid, when he was in exile, he was no less alone and a stranger than he had been in Rome. Poets are different, they see what others do not, they fly while others walk. Being a poet means being able to express the misery and pain of daily life, and to celebrate love, that saves us and makes us immortal.
