Barbara Grespi is a Full Professor at the Department of Philosophy “Piero Martinetti” at the University of Milan, where she teaches Media Archaeology and Theories of the Image in Motion. Her research has explored different aspects of the non-ocular-centric dimensions of optical media, such as photography, cinema, and recently extended realities. She has long focused on gestures and their crucial role of interface between the body and media technologies. Her most recent publications include Il cinema come gesto (2017), Figure del corpo (2019), Harun Farocki (co-ed. 2017), Bodies of Stone in the Media, Visual Culture, and the Arts (co-ed. 2020).

Roberto Paolo Malaspina, PhD, is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Philosophy “Piero Martinetti” of the University of Milan. He is a member of the coordinated research group EXT (Extended Realities) and serves as vice-coordinator of the department’s XR Lab, dedicated to the study of extended reality technologies at the intersection of film studies and media archaeology. He obtained his PhD in Philosophy and Human Sciences (Aesthetics) from the University of Milan in 2024, with a dissertation on erotic imagery and immersive devices, developed within the ERC-funded project AN-ICON. He is currently an adjunct professor of Theory of Perception at IED Academy in Milan and an academic fellow in Philosophy of Art at Bocconi University.
