Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Proposals
The journal publishes monographic issues based on Call for papers.
Proposals should be submitted in the form of long abstracts (3-4 pages) based on the Call for Paper topic and will be subject to Double Blind Peer Review.

Articles whose abstracts have been accepted (with an average length of between 35 and 45 thousand characters) will be published, but the editors reserve the right to suggest changes or corrections where they consider it appropriate.

Authors are encouraged to strictly adhere to the journal's editorial rules.

 

Preparation of the article

Once the proposal has been accepted, the article will be 35-45 thousand characters in length and will have to conform to the Journal's editorial rules.

 

Main editorial standards

General rules 

  • Author in italics
  • Title in small caps
  • Text, title and author: Times New Roman, size 12
  • Paragraph headings: Times New Roman, size 12, in italics
  • Notes: Times New Roman 10, footnotes
  • Block citations: Times New Roman 11, indentation left 2,25 cm; right 1 cm
  • Margins: 3 cm
  • Justified text
  • Line spacing: single

Paper text

  • Quotations must be reported in italic, not using single nor double inverted commas
  • Quotations exceeding 3 lines must be inserted in a new paragraph in italics with reduced margins
  • Footnote numbers must be inserted before any punctuation marks
  • Footnote numbers of the quotation paragraph must be inserted after the final full stop, in that they are referred to the quotation as a whole
  • Dots in text must not be inserted in parenthesis nor inserted before other punctuation
  • Dots are always three and separated from the text inserted before and after
    • (e.g.: said ....done must be changed in: said ... done)
  • Papers and sections titles do not contain a final full stop
  • Words that the authors are going to underline must be formatted in italics; inverted commas should not be used
  • Words from a language different from the paper language must be formatted using italics except for those that are commonly used in the paper language
  • Check and avoid double blanks between words
  • Do not insert blanks before punctuation
    • (e.g.: the spring ; must be changed in the spring;)
  • Do not insert blanks neither between parenthesis nor between inverted commas and text
    • (e.g.: ( the season) must be changed in (the season); “ the flower” must be changed in “the flower”
  • Do not use punctuation before parenthesis
    • (e.g.: the author, (cited in …) must be changed in: the author (cited in …)
  • Do not use punctuation twice in a row
    • (e.g.: what a sunny day!. Must be changed in: what a sunny day!
  • Do no use blanks after the apostrophe
    • (e.g.: what’ s Must be changed in: what’s
  • The dash sign (–) when used in incidental sentences or in a reported speech must be long (– instead of -) and separated from words appearing before and after
    • (e.g.: time – as we know – is …)
  • Hyphens must be short and with no blanks between them and the connected words
    • (e.g.: long-term)
  • Roman numbers must be  reported with no other sign
    • (e.g.: V, IV, instead of V°, IV°, or Vth, IVth)
  • Change expressions like ’70s, ’80s in seventies, eighties.
  • Acronyms that are written in capital letters in their original format must be reported using small caps with no dots (USA becomes usa)
  • in the case of authors with two or more names, the dotted initials must be without blanks (J.R. Weinberg)

Footnotes

Citations are reported in italics with a reference to the source

For citation format in footnote or bibliographic reference, take into account the following examples

  • A. Vespucci, We will call it America, Publisher, City date, p. XX.
  • A. Vespucci (ed.), We will call it America, Publisher, City date, p. XX.
  • A. Vespucci, We will call it America, Publisher, City date3, pp. XX-XX.

When the book edition is reported, add the edition number to the date as superscript

  • A. Vespucci, We will call it America, in P. Pallo (ed.), The five continents, Publisher, City date, p. XX.
  • A. Vespucci, We will call it America, in “Journal title” issue/number (year), pp. XX-XX.
  • A. Vespucci, Translated title, translated by N. Surname, Publisher, City date (original edition Publisher, City date).

When the same text is cited more than one time in footnotes:

  • Author, op cit., pp. xx-xxx.

When only that work of the author is cited;

  • Author, Initial words in title … cit., pp. xx-xxx.

When more than one work of the author is cited;

  • Ivi, p. xx.

When the author and work are reported in the previous footnote but with reference to a different part of the work

  • Ibidem

When the author and work are reported in the previous footnote but with reference to exactly the same part of the work

Abbreviations:

  • page = p.
  • pages = pp.
  • following pages = ff.
