Guglielmo di Sait-Thierry descrive attraverso il linguaggio dell’amore un percorso di conoscenza e avvicinamento a Dio. Considera i sensi spirituali come massima espressione dell’unione a Dio, paralleli all’esperienza corporea, in grado di condurre verso una comprensione superiore.La sensazione, insieme attiva e passiva, è anche azione dell’organo sensitivo sull’oggetto percepito, incontro tra soggetto e oggetto, e trasformazione del soggetto senziente in oggetto percepito.
Sono i passaggi che si ritrovano nel percorso verso la conoscenza come somiglianza: percezione – avvicinamento – assimilazione.
