Abstract

Thanks to documentation kept in the archive of the Benedictine monastery of St. Abbondio in Como, the paper studies the events that led to the first settlement of the Dominicans in the city, around the middle of the 13th century. This settlement led to a conflict with the Benedictine monastery and the intervention of the bishop’s authority.
