This chapter’s ultimate goal is to unveil the underlying significance of a widespread association in Late Medieval iconology, such as the one between Peter Martyr and Bernardino of Siena. Through the analysis of several case studies, the author succeeded in casting a fresh light on the image of a duo which throughout the Quattrocento was embedded with multiple and different meanings.
