The hospital of S. Maria of Campiglio, located on the pass between the Rendena valley and the Sole valley, is the oldest and best documented of the hospitals es‐ tablished in the diocese of Trento between the 12th and 13th centuries. Men and women coming from the nearby valleys (not only from Trentino but also from Lombardy), expressed their devotion and their commitment of charity by vowing to dwell in the place (permanently or for a limited period) after having donated their properties to the hospital. This essay focuses on some aspects of the history of Campiglio between the 15th and the 16th century, using in particular inventories of members of the community. The lists of friars, nuns and those who had vowed to reside in the hospice in the year 1471 can be found in appendix.
