About the Journal
Focus and scope
The Journal welcomes essays on Medieval History, Palaeography and Diplomatics, with a preference for original research that make use of unpublished sources.
Peer Review Process
Every proposal submitted for publication is read at least by an editor, for an initial review. If the paper agrees with editorial policies and with a minimum quality level, is sent to two reviewers for evaluation. Studi di Storia Medioevale e di Diplomatica uses a double blind peer review. Our selection criteria are scientific relevance, solidity of argumentation and appropriateness to the journal’s aims and areas of interest. The list of referees is published after the publication of three issues of the magazine.
Open Access Policy
Studi di Storia Medioevale e di Diplomatica provides open access to its contents, believing that making research freely available to the public improves the global exchange of knowledge; the Journal also allows readers to read, download, copy, distribute, print or link to the full text of the articles and to use them for the purposes permitted by law.
Frequency
A number is published per year. All the issues of the Prima Serie (1976-2001: ISSN 1124-1268) have been digitized and are available on this site in the "archive" section.
Article processing charges (APC)
Studi di Storia Medioevale e di Diplomatica does not require costs for the procedure of presentation, revision and publication of articles.

Copyright
The authors maintain the copyright on their works, assigning in a non-exclusive way to Studi di Storia Medioevale e di Diplomatica the right of publication.
The authors can distribute preprint and postprint versions of the articles anywhere under the same license adopted by this journal.
Plagiarism
ditors have a duty to act promptly in case of errors and misconducts, both proven and alleged. This duty extends to both published and unpublished papers. In case such as errors in articles or in the publication process, fraudulent publication or plagiarism, appropriate steps will be taken, following the recommendations, guidelines and flowcharts from COPE. Corrections will happen with due prominence, including the publication of an erratum (errors from the publication process), corrigendum (errors from the Author(s)) or, in the most severe cases, the retraction of the affected work. Retracted papers will be retained online, and they will be prominently marked as a retraction in all online versions, including the PDF, for the benefit of future readers.
