Abstract

With revisions and additions, this essay presents the text prepared for the presentation held at the Biblioteca Salita dei Frati in Lugano on 9 December 2025, on the occasion of the publication of Giacomo Leopardi, Paralipomeni della Batracomiomachia (Cantos I–II), edited by William Spaggiari (Milan: LED, 2025, 235 pp.).
