About the Journal
Established in 1874 by the Società Storica Lombarda, the journal Archivio Storico Lombardo promotes scholarship on the history of Milan and Lombardy from antiquity to the contemporary era. From its inception, Cesare Cantù envisaged “a military history, an administrative history, a financial or economic history, a political history: and to each we shall lend our support, seeking amid the dust of archives that fragrance of truth which emanates from contemporary documents.”
In keeping with the evolution of research topics, methodologies, and scholarly specializations, Archivio Storico Lombardo publishes each year original articles on Milanese and Lombard history across a wide range of disciplinary perspectives, with particular attention to the use and enhancement of primary sources.
The journal is published in digital Open Access format by Milano University Press, and in print by Scalpendi Editore.
